Also known as bleaching, Dr. Pite and his dental clinic in Oak Bay uses the Pola Whitening system.

This process, which can be done anywhere and anytime, involves wearing a custom-made bleaching tray (looks like a thin, transparent night guard) filled with a mild bleaching agent. You must wear the gel-filled tray 1/2 –2 hours per day for about two to four weeks. The advantages of home whitening include performing the treatment when it is convenient for you with possibly lower cost. The disadvantage to home bleaching is that the success of the treatment is dependent on your commitment to wearing the whitening tray routinely for the period prescribed.

Professional in office whitening is performed by our Hygienist or Certified Dental Assistants as an adjunct for those desiring a quicker result.  This is used complementary to the custom trays in the take home kit.  This process is much more effective than those requiring blue or laser lights which do very little but help to dry the teeth.  Drying the teeth results in a change in whiteness that usually disappears after a day or so and can result in significant discomfort.  Our process is done with patient comfort and excellent results in mind.
