What are Veneers?

Veneers are thin pieces of custom-made, highly durable, tooth-shaped porcelain or composite resin materials that adhere to the front surface of your teeth. They improve your teeth’s appearance by changing their shade, shape, and size so that you achieve the smile you have always wanted.

The Process

The beauty of porcelain veneers depends greatly upon the expertise that goes into their planning, crafting, and placement. If you and Dr. Pite determine that porcelain veneers are right for your smile, the process will typically involve two visits to our office over the course of two weeks.
  1. During your first appointment, Dr. Pite will prepare your teeth for the veneers, if needed. If necessary, a small layer of enamel from the front of the teeth may be adjusted so that the veneers will lie flush with the surrounding teeth. Ultimately, our goal is the preservation of as much of the natural tooth structure as is necessary for a proper functional and aesthetic finish.
  2. Next, Dr. Pite will create a mould of your teeth, which will guide the fabrication of your veneers by a skilled dental ceramist. You will wear temporary veneers until the final restorations are ready.
  3. After about two weeks, you will return to our office and Dr. Pite will carefully bond the permanent veneers to your teeth, effectively transforming your smile.
